Shunned by the networks for her tart tongue and libelous
rantings, Rosanna Roces seems rushing towards
self-destruction these days.
Recently, a steamy video clip of the former bold star
circulated through cell phones. It showed an intoxicated
Osang having her breasts licked by a teenage boy while
both were downing tequilas at some wild event that looked
more like a bacchanal.
At first Osang denied it was she on the video but,
because there had been a number of witnesses who all took
shots of the incident on their cell phones, the former
actress was forced to own up to notoriety.
What even jaded show business found disgusting about
the incident was a report that while the spectacle was
unfolding, Rosanna’s kids, Grace and Onyok, were around to
witness the entire shocking scenario.
Rosanna’s kids refuse to attend schools. Grace, 16, is
an unwed mother of Jolo Revilla’s baby who lately has been
the object of a tug of war between Rosanna and Jolo’s
parents, Sen. Bong Revilla and Lani Mercado.
Onyok is only 15 but already a heavy smoker and utterly
disrespectful, as is Grace, of Rosanna, say the media.
Lately, Rosanna is being linked with hard hitting
journalist Mon Tulfo. Although it looks like they’re
carrying on a very public relationship, Mon has denied any
connection besides friendship with Rosanna.
‘Vietnam
Rose’ fails to bloom
According to reports, Maricel Soriano’s
much-awaited drama series, “Vietnam Rose,” is not blooming
as anticipated by constant gardener, ABS-CBN.
The big budgeted show whose exteriors were shot in Ho
Chi Minh City itself, is not rating as well as rival
GMA-7’s “Darna” in its prime time slot.
Much was riding on Maricel’s reputation as a crowd
drawer in “Vietnam Rose,” her first foray into soaps but,
apparently, televiewers have more empathy these days
towards heroines with superpowers than flesh and blood
characters.
Critics say “Vietnam Rose” is terribly dated. It takes
place in Saigon during the waning days of the Vietnam War
of which many of today’s televiewers have no recollection
nor even an idea.
Further alienating televiewers is the fact that
Maricel’s character is Vietnamese, who as a child of 7 is
separated from her parents and finds herself with other
refugees on a boat bound for a refugee camp in the
Philippines. She is then adopted by a Filipino family and
grows up to be a rich and highly accomplished woman.
To be fair, the series is well crafted and
intelligently thought out by director Joel Lamangan. It is
just wrong for the times, critics say
The series co-stars John Estrada, Ricky Davao,
Assunta de Rossi, Angelica Panganiban and a host of
new talents.
Incidentally, is ABS-CBN aware of the dubious
connotation of “Vietnam Rose?” Back in the 60s, many
recall, it was the name of a sexually transmitted disease
prevalent during the decade.
Miss
Int’l headed for showbiz
Handlers of new Miss International
Precious Lara Quigaman, admit she’s headed for show
business exactly one year after her reign.
Before Precious left to compete in Japan she and her
mother sought Sen. Lito Lapid at his Senate office
to say she was available for film roles. It so happened
that the senator has a project in the works, “Probinsiyano.”
He offered her the role of his leading lady.
Of course, at the time either Precious nor Sen. Lito
had any idea she would win the Miss International title.
Both felt so tentative in fact that the subject of talent
fee was not even discussed.
Today, however, neither thinks Precious would be able
to do the movie unless Sen. Lito is willing to wait a full
year when Precious finishes her full year Miss
International contract. But Lito can’t afford to put
“Probinsiyano” on hold so another leading lady will have
to step in. |
