Fil-Am tops Green Book race

SEA GAMES BOUND: Filipino-American Arland Macasieb in action last year.

Filipino-American Arland Macasieb of Clifton, N.J. won the recent Green Book Triathlon held in Staten Island, N.Y. in a morale-boosting performance before he plunges into action in the 23rd Philippine Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in November.

Backed by Vellum Bicycles and ZIPP Wheels, Macasieb clocked 57 minutes and six seconds to top the event, 12 seconds faster than runner-up Scott Duprex, establishing him as one of the premier triathletes in two continents.

Vellum president Chris Aldeguer cited Macasieb’s performance, saying: “This is a huge victory for Arland and our country and bodes well for his participation in the SEA Games.”
