PIDCI election set Oct. 1

The annual election of the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI) is scheduled on Oct. 1, 2005 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center at 556 Fifth Avenue (between 45th and 46th Streets) in Manhattan.

The president of the organization, along with six members of the board of directors will be elected.

Only paid regular members are allowed to vote at the election. Existing members can renew their membership by filling out the renewal form that has already been mailed to each member organization.

This form, together with their association’s check or the personal check of its current president or treasurer or a money order duly signed by one of the association’s officers for $35 to cover the membership fee, should be mailed to the membership committee on or before Aug. 31, 2006.

Non-member organizations may apply for membership by requesting a membership form from the membership committee, provided they have already been in existence for one year on or before Sept. 1, 2005.

Together with the filled-out application form and $35 membership fee, new members must submit any two of the following: copy of the cover of their most recent journal plus copy of their officers page in the same journal; list of top four officers with complete address and phone numbers; a copy of published articles/write-ups/awards/activities relating to the association; any document referring to its creation i.e., constitution and bylaws; and other related documents.

The application package will be reviewed for approval by the PIDCI membership committee for submission and final approval of PIDCI board.

Incomplete applications will be held pending by the membership committee subject to the submission of required documents.

All new or renewal forms, together with the required $35 membership fee and supporting required documents, must be received on or before midnight of Aug. 31, 2005 for inclusion in the official membership and voters listings which will be used in the Oct. 1 election.

The membership committee will be available to distribute and/or receive completed applications, or to answer any questions on Aug. 17 and Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Philippine Center.
