mulling
libel raps vs. loose-
lipped Rosanna R.

Sen. Bong Revilla and his wife
Lani Mercado
By RICARDO F. LO
Sen. Bong Revilla’s
family, not him, is readying defamation charges against
Rosanna Roces for libelous statements the
bold star said on the television program “The Buzz”
two weeks ago.
Venting her spleen on Sen. Bong’s 17-year-old
son Jolo, with whom Rosanna’s daughter
Grace has an infant son named Gabby,
Rosanna said the Revillas were no cleaner than she was.
The family patriarch, ex-Sen. Ramon Sr.
has a 19-year-old mistress. Bong has one himself whom he
recently gifted with a new car and put up a beauty parlor.
In addition, Bong’s other son Brian
was an ecstasy user. Rosanna added that Jolo used to hit
her daughter Grace even when she was pregnant with his baby.
The Revillas in fact were so dishonorable such that if Bong’s
wife Lani stood side by side with Rosanna,
the boldie said there was no doubt people would find her,
the ex-club hospitality girl, more respectable.
Many are puzzled why the other Revillas got
caught in Rosanna’s line of fire. Originally, she
had come to “The Buzz” only to beef against
Jolo and to complain about the family’s inadequate
P10,000 monthly child support.
Sen. Bong said as much as possible he wouldn’t
want the issue spilling into a major scandal. He has repeatedly
asked Rosanna to dialogue with his family to settle whatever
grievances she has with them. But Rosanna has turned a deaf
ear to Sen. Bong’s plea. Instead she goes to all the
talk shows and defames all the Revillas, including the redoubtable,
Mang Ramon, who is regarded as a legendary father figure
in the whole of Cavite (literally, it might be added; the
man has reportedly more than 50 kids in the various barangays
of his province).
After Rosanna’s rant on “The
Buzz,” Sen. Bong’s family is now firm on suing
the venom-spewing actress. Sen. Bong, however, said he is
not part of the suit for he still believes in the wisdom
of settling differences and family matters amicably. He,
however, has no control of the feelings of family members,
Bong said, so he’s not stopping them if they so chose
to give Rosanna a dose of her own medicine.
