APRIL 7—The Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. National Black Theatre presents Leslie Sword

APRIL 14—The National Black Theatre will present Leslie Lewis Sword, daughter of Loida Nicolas Lewis and the late Reginald Lewis, in a one-woman show entitled “Yesterday Came Too Soon...The Dorothy Dandridge Story” at the National Black Theatre, 2031 Fifth Ave., bet. 125th and 126th Streets, in Manhattan. The four-week run will start on April 14 and end on May 8. Showtime are 2 p.m. (Wednesday), 7:30 p.m. (Friday and Saturday), and 3 p.m. (Sunday). Previews on April 8-10. Tickets are $35. Gamboa-Carreon art show at PhilCenter

Fr. Manoling at Day of Recollection in Jersey

APRIL 9—The Filipino-American community of Jersey City will present Fr. Manoling Francisco, S.J., a well-known speaker and musical genius who composed the classic songs “Hindi Kita Malilimutan” and “Tanging Yaman,’ at a day of recollection from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at St. Anthony Church, 461 Monmouth Street (and 6th Street). FAHSI hosts free immigration forum

MAY 22—The Filipino American Human Services, Inc. (FAHSI) will host Immigration Law Information Forum, co-sponsored by the NY State Citizenship Unit, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Philippine-American Center at 185-14 Hillside Avenue, Jamaica, N.Y. The forum aims to provide information regarding obtaining legal residency and applying for citizenship. Guest speakers will answer questions about changes in immigration law after 9/11. Hangad in concert at St. Malachy’s Church

MAY 27—“Biyaheng Hangad” (An Easter Journey), a concert featuring popular inspirational music and original liturgical songs featuring Hangad, a musical group from the Philippine Jesuit Music Ministry, will be held at St. Malachy’s Church—The Actor’s Chapel—at 239 West 49th Street (bet. 8th Ave. and Broadway) in Manhattan, for the benefit of the newly-formed Cathedral of Saint Patrick Young Singers (www.cspys.org).
